HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- The hit-and-run suspect who was caught on camera backing up over an elderly woman in Huntington Beach surrendered to police Thursday night.

Taylor Kirby, 24, of Signal Hill, was booked into Huntington Beach City Jail and faces felony hit-and-run charges.

At 2:38 p.m. on April 20, surveillance video from a McDonald's parking lot captured a charcoal gray Dodge Challenger backing up and hitting an 85-year-old woman. She was knocked to the ground, which resulted in head injuries.

The video shows Kirby and a female passenger getting out of the car and approaching the woman. He then motions to the passenger and the two get back in the car, fleeing the scene.

During the investigation, authorities found and impounded the car in Signal Hill. An arrest warrant was issued for Kirby before he and his attorney arranged for his surrender to police.

Authorities said he posted bail soon after booking and was released from custody. His court date is scheduled for June 30, 2015.

The female passenger has not been identified, but she may face charges depending on the outcome of the investigation.
