7 rescued from partial roof collapse in Fontana
Seven people were rescued after a partial roof collapse inside a strip mall in Fontana on Friday. No one was hurt, authorities said.

FONTANA, Calif. (KABC) -- Seven people were rescued after a roof partially collapsed inside a strip mall in Fontana on Friday. No one was hurt, authorities said.

The partial collapse happened in the 17000 block of Foothill Boulevard at 12:42 p.m. The moment of the collapse was caught on camera at a nearby liquor store.

The San Bernardino Fire Department used ladder to get over all the rubble and rescue the people inside.

People in surrounding businesses were evacuated during the rescue. Those nearby said the collapse sounded like an earthquake. The rubble fell onto several parked cars in front of the business.

Area streets were closed until about 2:30 p.m.

San Bernardino fire officials said building and safety personnel were on scene for an investigation. All businesses inside the building were closed indefinitely. A cost of the damage was not immediately known.
