SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A serial arsonist may be on the loose after several rubbish fires ignited in South Los Angeles early Thursday morning.

Five fires were reported all in the same area. The first was set shortly before 1 a.m. on the 100 block of West 39th Street. Just before 2 a.m., another fire was reported on the 300 block of West 39th Street.

At least three more rubbish fires were set after that.

The Los Angeles Police Department says a man on a bike who was seen in the area may be responsible for starting the fires.
