BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A 22-year-old man was killed after losing control of his vehicle in Boyle Heights early Saturday.

The incident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. on the two-lane transition ramp from the northbound 5 Freeway to the eastbound 10 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The victim was driving a 2009 Jeep Cherokee when it veered off the roadway and up an embankment. It struck the State Street on-ramp to the 5 Freeway overcrossing, CHP said.

The vehicle became wedged beneath the freeway ramp. It was crushed by the impact of the crash, and Antonio Rafael Perez was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles firefighters.
