DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The Nokia Theatre, part of downtown's popular L.A. Live complex, has officially been renamed. It is now the Microsoft Theater.

Crews changed the signs Tuesday morning.

The 7,100-seat concert and special events venue is also the site for awards shows including the Emmys, People's Choice Awards and American Music Awards.

Microsoft, which is partnering with AEG and L.A. Live, released a statement saying it will contribute cutting edge technology and expertise to the upcoming refurbishment and renovation of many of the public and private spaces.
