HESPERIA, Calif. (KABC) -- Two parents were arrested Tuesday after allegedly leaving their 3-year-old child in a locked vehicle for about two hours while shopping at a Walmart in Hesperia.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene in the 13000 block of Main Street at about 10:31 p.m. and found the child crying.

After store personnel made announcements over their P.A. system and no one came forward, deputies broke out the window of the vehicle to remove the child.

Through surveillance tapes, sheriff's deputies learned the couple entered the store at 9:30 p.m. and returned to their vehicle at 11:13 p.m. after being found by Walmart employees.

The child was turned over to Child Family Services since the family was visiting from out of state. Jonathan Leal, 33, of Mexico and Guillermina Ramirez, 31, of Mexico were arrested and booked for willful harm or injury to a child.
