Lake Fire in San Bernardino National Forest now 60 percent contained

BIG BEAR LAKE, Calif. (KABC) -- The massive Lake Fire burning in the San Bernardino National Forest was 60 percent contained on Monday.

More than a week after it erupted, the blaze has scorched 31,359 acres of heavy brush and forest timber.

The brush fire destroyed a house and three outbuildings.

While a thunderstorm stopped fire crews for a short time, the damp weekend helped firefighters stop the growth of the wildfire.

The cost of fighting the fire has reached $30.2 million. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

All evacuation orders were lifted. State Route 38 has reopened, but hiking trails and campsites remain closed. Four firefighters were treated for injuries.
