LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Laguna Beach Councilwoman Toni Iseman is pushing to ban new swimming pools in the city amid the state's historic drought.

Iseman says with pools taking as much as 30,000 gallons to fill, it is our "patriotic duty" to help with the drought.

City leaders have halted new pool construction for at least 45 days until city staff can draft an ordinance.

Laguna Beach imports 100 percent of its water.

City officials will take up the issue again in august when they may vote on a more permanent solution.
