MALIBU, Calif. (KABC) -- An Oxnard man, who is a registered sex offender in Ventura County, was arrested near Leo Carrillo State Beach Saturday after attempting to break into several cars parked along the road.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies with the Malibu and Lost Hills Station received a call around 4:30 p.m. from a concerned citizen. The caller said he saw a man who was attempting to open different cars parked along the Pacific Coast Highway and Mulholland Highway near Leo Carrillo State Beach.

The witness provided a description of the man and his car. When deputies arrived, the man was located and arrested. He was identified as 33-year-old Israel Padilla.

During the investigation, authorities found Padilla had more than 100 cellphones, laptops, tablets, car keys and other items from more than a dozen car burglaries. He was also in possession of burglary tools and gloves.

Some of the stolen property was identified and returned to a person who was a victim of a car burglary earlier in the day.

He faces numerous felony charges for the burglaries and one for violating his parole.
