SANTA PAULA, Calif. (KABC) -- One person was killed after a small plane crashed at South Mountain in Santa Paula.

A passerby found the wreckage of a twin-engine Cessna 337 Saturday about four miles southeast of Santa Paula Airport. It appears the plane crashed several days ago, FAA officials said.

The pilot was confirmed dead and a coroner was called to the scene, a Ventura County Fire Department official said. He was identified as 82-year-old Ojai resident James Breeding.

It was unclear what led up to the crash.
