BURBANK, Calif. (KABC) -- A Hesperia man was charged Thursday for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend to death in Burbank.

Timothy Andrade, 28, was charged with murder using a knife.

On Sunday, 35-year-old Brandi Carrasco was found dead with stab wounds in her neck inside a bedroom of a home in the 1900 block of Richard Street.

Carrasco had been staying at the home with Andrade, prosecutors said.

Burbank police initially arrested another man "based on conflicting statements, information that he was less than forthcoming with, and an inconsistent sequence of events," they said in a statement. He was later let go.

Police arrested Andrade on Tuesday, who provided them with information that led to the knife used in the murder, police officials said.

If convicted as charged, Andrade faces a maximum 26 years to life in state prison.
