PANORAMA CITY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An armed man was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Panorama City Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Officers received a report of a man with a gun near Roscoe Boulevard and Willis Avenue at about 2:45 p.m.

About 30 minutes later, officers approached a man with a beer who matched the suspect's description near the intersection of Cedros Avenue and Parthenia Street, and an officer-involved shooting occurred.

The suspect, identified as a man in his early 30s, was pronounced dead while being transported to a local hospital, police said. A handgun was recovered at the scene.

No officers were injured. Detectives from the LAPD's Force Investigation Division were handling the investigation.
