SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- A park attendant in Simi Valley found the skinned body of a Jack Russell Terrier in Foothill Park last week, and authorities are looking for the suspect.

Simi Valley police are calling it the worst case of animal cruelty ever in Ventura County. Animal services personnel said the dog was beaten, skinned and then stabbed.

Investigators located the dog's owner based on information it had on its collar, which was found near the body.

The family said they last saw the dog at home, not far from the park, the night before the grisly discovery.

A $5,000 reward is offered in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the Simi Valley Police Department.
