PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- A bright pink streetside piano taken from outside of a Pasadena music studio has been returned to its rightful place.

The upright piano belongs to concert pianist and music teacher Cindy Lam. Lam wanted to share the piano with her community, so she left it outside for anyone to play and listen.

Someone took the piano home, apparently thinking the owner had thrown it away.

However, after the story aired on Eyewitness News and appeared on social media, it was returned.

"It's going to go right back out on the curb, but this time we have chains and padlocks and we have a sign that explains that it's not a throwaway piano and that's it's actually a community art project for everybody to play," Lam said.

Lam said she was inspired by other street piano projects around the world and hopes her outside piano encourages others to create and enjoy music.
