PICO RIVERA, Calif. (KABC) -- An AAA roadside assistance driver was stabbed to death Tuesday after helping a member in front of her Pico Rivera home.

The man, identified by coworkers as 34-year-old Raymond Zabala, was talking to a AAA member outside her home in the 8400 block of Buhman Avenue after fixing a dead battery when another man appeared and stabbed him in the neck at about 4:40 p.m.

Zabala ran from the suspect and was found several houses away bleeding profusely, Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect rode away on a bicycle in an unknown direction. He is suspected to be the AAA member's son. No arrests have yet been made.

Zabala got married about a year ago and was the father of a 1-month-old baby, co-workers said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
