Security video shows a man and a woman get out of a compact car that had just pulled into an apartment parking lot in Anaheim. The male driver also gets out and the three walk toward Ball Road.
The video was captured right after a fiery crash at about 2 a.m. on Saturday.
Police said a car racing with another car hit almost 100 mph before losing control, shearing a light pole and hitting several other parked cars before crashing through an apartment patio and bursting into flames. The other car has not been found as of Wednesday night.
Investigators said the three people caught on video may be able to help.
"We believe those people may have witnessed the accident and returned to the scene. We're trying to identify them so the investigators can speak to them to see what they know about the accident," Sgt. Daron Wyatt of Anaheim police said.
The driver and the rear passenger -- both 19-year-old men -- died in the crash. The 24-year-old front passenger suffered critical injuries.
Police were not only looking for witnesses but cellphone video of the crash or aftermath. Authorities said that might help identify the driver of the second car.
"Witnesses have still reported it was a red Ford Mustang or a Chevy Camero. We're still in the process of obtaining video to try to prove or disprove that," Wyatt added.
Some who live nearby said street racing is a problem and those involved in this crash need to take responsibility.
