BARSTOW, Calif. (KABC) -- A big rig carrying cucumbers overturned on the 15 Freeway near Barstow early Saturday, causing a traffic mess for morning drivers.
The rollover happened on the transition road from the southbound 15 to the westbound 58, when a car in the fast lane was traveling under 55 mph, the CHP said.
The cucumber truck came around a bend and the driver had to swerve to avoid the slower car, but then swerve again to avoid another big rig that was also swerving, officers said.
"The driver here swerved to the right to avoid," said CHP Sgt. Matt McKelvey.
"At the same time the other big rig also swerved to the right so this gentleman swerved back to the left and when he did it caused his truck to go off onto the shoulder on the left. He over-corrected from there and it caused the vehicle to roll over on its side."
No one was injured, but the slow lane was closed most of the day to clean up the mess.
