MALIBU, Calif. (KABC) -- A bomb squad inspected a grenade that washed up on shore at Paradise Cove in Malibu on New Year's Day.

The call came in shortly after 1 p.m., according to authorities.

Investigators say they still don't know what kind of grenade it was or where it came from. But the grenade was safe enough for the bomb squad to remove it without having to destroy it on site.

No arrests have been made.
