PLACENTIA, Calif. (KABC) -- Burglars broke into three restaurants within four miles of each other early Wednesday morning in Placentia, but didn't make off with much.

Authorities said the burglaries happened around 1 a.m. with Los Gallos Mexican restaurant being the first location that was hit. Officers were alerted to the burglary by the store's alarm, and another alarm went off five minutes later at Meat Up BBQ in the 1400 block of North Kramer Avenue.

The last location hit was Gina Maria's Pizzeria in the 1500 block of North Placentia Avenue. Each location had broken windows or doors, but nothing was taken.

According to authorities, the burglars may have been hoping to get cash from the registers but each location did not leave money in the machines.

Wes with the pizzeria said the suspects smashed a window, went to the registers and left soon after when they could not find any money.

Police will be looking at surveillance footage and searching the locations for evidence. The investigation was ongoing.
