THOUSAND OAKS (KABC) -- The burned body of a man was found at a home in Thousand Oaks on Friday. The death was investigated as a possible suicide, authorities said.

Ventura County Fire notified Ventura County sheriff's officials around 1:35 p.m. that crews were on scene of a fire in the 3100 block of Foothill Drive.

The body was found in the backyard. Both the body and the back of the home were on fire, officials said.

Arson investigators, police and officials with the sheriff's Major Crimes Unit were called to the scene for an investigation. Authorities first believed the incident was suspicious in nature, but later said it was a possible suicide.

Authorities worked to identify the body.

The home appeared to be under construction.
