Canyon Country man surrenders for hit-and-run that killed local teacher

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A Canyon Country man has surrendered to authorities in the hit-and-run death of a school teacher.

Roderick Bennett, 53, was killed Wednesday while riding his bike on Placerita Canyon Road near the 14 Freeway in Santa Clarita.

On Friday morning, investigators located the vehicle believed to have struck him. Lucas James Guidroz, 28, was booked for alleged felony hit-and-run.

Bennett was a math teacher and band director at Arroyo Seco Junior High School.
