ANAHEIM, Calif. (KABC) -- A car-wash fundraiser was held Friday for the family of a 9-year-old girl who was shot and killed while playing with her friends outside her Anaheim home.

Family, friends and even complete strangers are mourning the death of fifth-grader Ximena Meza, who was killed around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday on the 2300 block of West Greenacre Avenue, across from Brookhurst Park.

The car wash was organized to help raise money as Meza's family plans her funeral. An online fundraiser has also been set up to help the family with funeral costs.

Investigators say the shooting may be gang-related. Police are asking for witnesses to come forward to help locate Meza's killer. It's believed the gunman left the shooting scene in a white car.

A $57,500 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the gunman.

Anyone with information was asked to call police at (714) 765-1573.
