SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) -- A bloodied chase suspect was taken into custody after driving into a San Bernardino college and down several flights of stairs in a stolen car on Friday, police said.

San Bernardino police said the unidentified suspect used a car like a battering ram as he sped across the campus of Cal State San Bernardino.

The driver slammed into several concrete tables and even raced down three flights of stairs, leaving behind shattered car parts in his wake.

The theft suspect finally ditched the heavily-damaged car in a parking lot and took off on foot, but a police K-9 chased him down before he got away.

Arresting officers took the man to the hospital for treatment of multiple bite wounds.

According to SBPD, authorities were looking for a suspect at a residence when the man fled from his home, got into the stolen vehicle and began to lead police on the chase.

Authorities said no other injuries were reported.
