City Terrace police chase ends in deadly officer-involved shooting
A fatal officer-involved shooting occurred after a police chase through City Terrace, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

CITY TERRACE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A police chase in City Terrace ended in a deadly officer-involved shooting Thursday evening, according to officials.

The Los Angeles Police Department said the chase began in City Terrace, near Boyle Heights, and ended in the 1200 block of Atwood Place.

Video sent to ABC7 showed a small white car leading police on a chase up a hill and around a turn. At least three patrol cars could be seen following the vehicle.

A woman driving the vehicle was on her cellphone during the chase and a male passenger, believed to be in his 30s, was with her, according to officials.

Police said when the car stopped at the end of Atwood Place, which was a cul-de-sac, the man got out of the car.

That's when officers said they opened fire on the man.

"Some citizens had advised the officers that the suspect was armed with a handgun," Sgt. Frank Preciado with the LAPD said.

The man was taken from the scene and later died at the hospital, according to police.

Authorities confirmed there were no injuries to officers and that a firearm was recovered at the scene.

Officials said they would review body-camera video which recorded the incident.

The woman driver was arrested for evasion, police stated.
