SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KABC) -- Police are on the lookout for a driver they said hit a woman in Santa Monica and then took off Sunday evening.

Santa Monica police said the crash happened at 14th Street and California Avenue at about 6 p.m.

Police said the woman in her late 60s was crossing the street when she was hit by the car.

The victim was taken to the hospital for injuries including possible head trauma. The woman is expected to survive.

Witnesses said the driver was in a dark blue or midnight blue Mazda.
