DTLA rings in 2016 as thousands gather in Grand Park

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The biggest New Year's Eve party in the entertainment capital of the world brought more than 50,000 revelers to Grand Park in Downtown Los Angeles.

As Southern Californians ringed in 2016, they were treated to a light show, live music on three stages, 30 different food options, an interactive art installation and photo booths.

In light of recent terrorist attacks, heightened security was implemented, including pat downs and wandings of those attending the celebration.

There was also a record level of law enforcement on hand.

To help a more family-friendly celebration, no alcohol was allowed at the event.
