BURBANK, Calif. (KABC) -- A 78-year-old man was arrested for sexually assaulting his 10-year-old biological granddaughter in the backseat of a car in Burbank.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office filed two counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a child against Guillermo Rincon-Lugo, after a person witnessed the crime and reported it to Burbank police.
Officials said the witness saw Rincon-Lugo molesting his granddaughter in the backseat of a car parked in the Vallarta Market parking lot, located in the 10900 block of Sherman Way Sunday. Officers were able to contact and identify the possible victim shortly after.
The suspect's granddaughter verified she was sexually abused by her grandfather, a resident of North Hollywood.
After being interviewed, Rincon-Lugo admitted to the molestation.
The suspect appeared in court Tuesday and pleaded not guilty. He is due back in court on Oct. 15.
Rincon-Lugo's bail has been set at $200,000.
The crime remains under investigation. Anyone with additional information is urged to call police.
