FDNY captain arrested on suspicion of lewd acts with children in Hollywood

NEW YORK (KABC) -- A New York City Fire Department captain has been arrested on suspicion of committing lewd acts with two children, according to the LAPD.

Capt. Wilbert Riera was arrested in New York after a felony warrant was issued out of Los Angeles for his arrest. The alleged crimes occurred Sept. 12 in Hollywood, Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Officer II Nuria Vanegas said.

The suspect, who has been with the FDNY for 21 years and most recently served as captain in charge of EMS on Staten Island, has been suspended without pay and is being held in NYPD custody. He is expected to be booked in Los Angeles on Monday, police said.

Riera is facing multiple different counts, but the LAPD would not elaborate on the allegations against him.

Los Angeles police were working with the FBI. No further information was released.
