RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (KABC) -- A Fontana nanny accused of abusing two children in her care appeared in a Rancho Cucamonga courtroom Thursday. The alleged abuse was caught on a nanny cam.

The mother of the children, who didn't want to be identified, reviewed the video and saw Dana Cash allegedly shaking her 1-year-old girl. Cash also appears to put her hand over the mouth of both the young girl and her twin brother.

Yucaipa resident Dana Cash, 34, was arrested on Oct. 2, 2014, for allegedly assaulting year-old twins.

Cash, 34, was then arrested by San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies on suspicion of child abuse.

After her arraignment, Cash's defense attorney Michael Scafiddi told Eyewitness News that his client wants to take responsibility for her actions.

"She couldn't believe that was her on that video. She was just shocked. This is a woman that has lived an exemplary life," Scafiddi said. "She took this job because she wanted to help people, she wanted to help raise young children, and for a moment in time she just lost who she was."

The next hearing was scheduled for Jan. 7. Scafiddi says his client hopes to reach a plea deal with the district attorney before then.
