Gunman fires into parked car, killing man, wounding woman in South Los Angeles

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man walked up to a car parked on a driveway in South Los Angeles and opened fire, killing a man and wounding a woman, sheriff's officials said.

The shooting occurred on the 1200 block of West 109th Street in the Westmont area shortly before 3:30 p.m. Thursday, authorities said.

After striking both victims, the suspect ran southbound along the driveway onto the street, then westbound on 109th Street.

The victims were driven to a hospital by a family member.

The man died after suffering a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The woman was struck also in the torso but survived, though sheriff's officials did not have further details on her condition.

A description of the suspect was not immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
