Hit-run driver slams into Florence business
CHP officers are looking for a hit-and-run driver who slammed a dump truck into a Florence area business early Sunday.

FLORENCE, LOS ANGELES COUNTY (KABC) -- California Highway Patrol officers are looking for a hit-and-run driver who slammed a dump truck into a Florence area business Sunday.

The driver crashed into La Fuente de Oro market on the 6000 block of Compton Avenue near 69th Street at 12:51 a.m.

CHP says the driver was traveling northbound on Compton Avenue when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the truck. He then got out and made a run for it.

A description of the suspect was not immediately available, but officials said they were actively searching.

The market was partially red-tagged by Los Angeles County building inspectors. It is expected to reopen once the front portion of the market is repaired.

The market was closed at the time of the crash, but the owner was asleep in the back of the market due to a rash of recent burglaries. He was uninjured.
