LANCASTER, Calif. (KABC) -- A Lancaster man who discovered his wife after she drowned in a pool says he doesn't know what happened to her. Authorities have launched an investigation, citing possible suspicious circumstances.

Barry White says his home surveillance cameras videotaped the tragedy, which occurred Wednesday afternoon.

"She lost her brother four months ago and she lost her mom about a year-and-a-half, two years ago. I think that just crushed her and she drowned in her pool. I came home and found her in the pool," White said.

White said his wife Mele was an experienced swimmer.

"I don't think she took her life," White said. "She was in the pool. She was swimming for hours and she just kind of floated. She might have fallen asleep, I am not sure."

White says since her death, he can barely hold himself together.

"She was the reason why I wake up every morning. She inspired me to be the best that I can," said White, who owns Carpeteria, a flooring business.

White says despite his overwhelming grief, he is going to perform in the annual Dancing with the Antelope Valley Stars show this weekend in honor of his wife.

"She knew I loved to dance. The dance is this Saturday night and I did not know if I had enough strength in my legs to do it, but I am going to do it," said White, choking up. "She would be upset if I didn't do it, so I will be there Saturday night to dance for my wife."

The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office is performing an autopsy on Mele White to determine a cause of death.
