Rancho Cucamonga man allegedly held girlfriend captive, threatened her with machete

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (KABC) -- A Rancho Cucamonga man was arrested after he allegedly held his girlfriend captive for three days while threatening to kill her with a machete, police said.

The victim's co-workers contacted Rancho Cucamonga police on Tuesday to tell them the woman was not acting like herself at work. They requested that authorities check in on her at her home.

When San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies contacted the victim at her residence, she told them she was being held captive in her apartment by her boyfriend, Michael Rodak, for the last three days. She told deputies that Rodak threatened to kill her and himself with a machete.

A deputy issued an emergency protective order for the victim. Then, law enforcement officials with the Multiple Enforcement Team tracked Rodak down and arrested him.

Rodak was booked into the West Valley Detention Center on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment and making criminal threats. His bail was set at $250,000.
