Inmate dies after assault at LA Twin Towers Correctional Facility

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau was investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an inmate at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility on Wednesday.

The incident happened at about 5:35 a.m. at the facility in the 400 block of Bauchet Street in downtown L.A., sheriff's officials said in a news release.

Detectives learned the inmate was assaulted by another inmate, according to the news release.

The victim, an African-American man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect inmate was detained. Neither person was immediately identified.
