EAGLE ROCK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A Los Angeles Police Department patrol vehicle was shot on the 134 Freeway in Eagle Rock on Sunday.

Authorities said the marked SUV, carrying two LAPD officers, was shot before 5 a.m. and officers set up a perimeter to find the suspected shooter.

Photos released by the LAPD showed the patrol vehicle with a bullet hole in the driver-side passenger door.

No one was injured during the shooting, and police did not return fire, according to authorities.

Authorities said it all began at 3 a.m., when police responded to a shots fired call at Eagle Rock Recreation Center at 1100 Eagle Vista Drive.

"They heard a thud on their vehicle, at which point they got out of their car and they observed a bullet hole to the rear passenger driver-side door," said Super Lt. Chris Ramirez of the LAPD.

Investigators said it was unclear whether the shooter targeted the marked SUV or if it was hit by stray gunfire.

The 134 Freeway was closed as detectives investigated, but has since reopened.

Officials did not release any suspect information.
