DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An assault suspect has died after being shot by Los Angeles police in a downtown apartment complex.

LAPD officer responding to a disturbance call in the 600 block of Wall Street heard screaming upon their arrival. As they entered the unit at about 6:55 p.m., they observed a male suspect stabbing a female victim.

An officer-involved shooting ensued. The suspect was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries. The female victim is listed in serious condition.

The relationship between the suspect and the victim has not been determined.

No officers were injured. No further information was available.
