LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (KABC) -- The man accused of plowing his car into a worker at a federal building in Laguna Niguel has been identified.
Geoffrey Rickner, 45, is expected to be charged with the alleged assault as soon as Friday.
The worker who was struck was rushed to a local hospital with significant injuries.
Rickner was also taken to the hospital after he crashed his Mercedes-Benz into a garage on the federal property in the 24000 block of Avila Road around 4:30 p.m. Thursday. There was no update on Rickner's condition.
The bomb squad was called to search Rickner's car to make sure there was no threat to public safety. No explosives were found.
The FBI is trying to determine Rickner's motive.
The impacted building houses offices for Homeland Security as well as the IRS.
