FONTANA, Calif. (KABC) -- A 27-year-old Fontana man was arrested on suspicion of molesting his girlfriend's 10-year-old daughter for two years.

According to authorities, Miguel Jafar Gutierrez was booked at the West Valley Detention Center in lieu of $250,000 bail for continuous sexual abuse of a minor, sodomy and oral copulation of a minor.

On Wednesday, the Fontana Sheriff's Station received a call from Poplar Elementary School about a young girl, who does not attend the school, being molested at home. According to authorities, the victim told a student at the school what happened, and the student informed Poplar staff.

Authorities say the girl reported that Gutierrez lived with them in the 15000 block of Pine Street. The victim said the abuse would happen when her mother wasn't home. Gutierrez is not a legal U.S. citizen, sheriff's officials said.

Sheriff's deputies and Child Protective Services began investigating the allegations. Detectives obtained evidence that confirmed the victim's accusations, and Gutierrez was taken into custody.
