Man found dead at Best Western in Corona possibly part of suicide pact

CORONA, Calif. (KABC) -- A couple may have been attempting to uphold a suicide pact, when a Best Western employee found them, Corona police said.

Per Ake Ingemar Soderstrom, 64, was found dead and his spouse Jeanette Soderstrom, 62, was severely injured, when police arrived at a Best Western hotel in the 1800 block of Pomona Road in Corona.

An employee discovered the two inside a room and called police at about 10:20 a.m. Aug. 7.

The woman was taken to Riverside Community Hospital and was later transferred to Loma Linda Hospital for recovery.

Detectives found a suicide pact note in the room, but continue to investigate the case.

Per Ake Ingemar Soderstrom's cause of death remained undetermined pending a toxicology report.
