Man killed in collision on SB 405 Fwy in Lawndale

LAWNDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- All southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway were temporarily closed at Hawthorne Boulevard in Lawndale Wednesday morning following a fatal traffic collision, California Highway Patrol officials said.

A big rig collided with a car at about 4:15 a.m., slamming the car into a wall.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of kin.

The drive was slammed from El Segundo Boulevard, and traffic was being diverted off the freeway at Hawthorne Boulevard.

The southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway were reopened at 8 a.m. The crash remains under investigation by CHP.
