More DUI arrests this holiday period than 2014, CHP reports

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The California Highway Patrol says officers have arrested more people on driving under the influence charges over this holiday season compared to last year.

According to statistics released by the CHP, officers arrested 150 motorists on DUI charges so far during the holiday reporting period, which spans from 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24 to 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27.

This figure is 18 more than last year's total. Statewide, there were 608 DUI arrests, compared to 565 last year.

The CHP also reported that there were no traffic-related deaths on Los Angeles County highways in the 60-hour period. There was one death last year during the same time frame.

Statewide, there were 14 traffic-related deaths so far in 2015, which is four fewer than last year's total of 18.
