LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- New video and pictures have been released of a hot air balloon crash that killed three people in Virginia last May.

The National Transportation Safety Board released the new footage, which shows the balloon falling fast onto power lines and people frantically racing to help the three people onboard.

Two University of Richmond women's basketball team staff members and the pilot of the balloon were killed. The balloon drifted onto the power line and caught fire before crashing to the ground.

The two passengers were Ginny Doyle, 44, associate head coach, and Natalie Lewis, 24, director of basketball operations. The pilot was Capt. Daniel Kirk, who had more than 20 years of balloon flying experience.

Witnesses at the scene said Kirk did everything possible to try and save the doomed flight.
