Crews rescue hundreds of reptiles from burning building
The Orange County Fire Authority and the Anaheim Fire Department saved hundreds of reptiles from a fire in Stanton on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015.

STANTON, Calif. (KABC) -- Firefighters put whatever fear of snakes they had to rest as they rescued hundreds of reptiles from a burning building in Stanton on Wednesday.

The Orange County Fire Authority and the Anaheim Fire Department responded to a fire at a reptile store located at 10529 Beach Blvd. at about 8:10 p.m.

Firefighters were able to save hundreds of reptiles, including snakes and lizards.

While many were saved, officials said other reptiles died in the fire.

Firefighters and the owner of the store were able to use oxygen masks to help treat several reptiles.

Crews brought the fire under control at about 8:45 p.m.

No firefighters or people were injured in the fire.
