PLACENTIA, Calif. (KABC) -- A female teacher at Valencia High School has been placed on administrative leave after being arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a female student from 2004 to 2008.

Rebecca Eileen Diebolt, 35, of Brea, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of oral copulation with a person under the age of 18 and sexual penetration with a person under the age of 18. She was booked into the Orange County Jail, but was released on bail around 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

The investigation began on June 4 after the victim called and told police about her sexual relationship with Diebolt, which she says began when she was 15 years old.

The victim told Placentia police that she first "formed a relationship" with Diebolt in 2004, when Diebolt was the victim's language arts teacher and swim/water polo coach.

Detectives say the victim and Diebolt allegedly often engaged in sexual behavior in the suspect's classroom and home after school and on weekends. The sexual relationship allegedly continued after the victim graduated from high school and attended college.

The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District said it was notified of Diebolt's arrest on Wednesday and placed the teacher on administrative leave.

"The safety of our students is the utmost concern," said Superintendent Doug Domene. "We are fully cooperating with the police regarding this matter."

Placentia police say they are looking for additional victims. Anyone with information or who may have been victimized by Diebolt was asked to contact detectives at (714) 993-8146.
