ORANGE, Calif. (KABC) -- One person died after three vehicles were involved in a fiery crash in Orange, officials said.

The crash happened at Chapman Avenue and Yorba Street, just in front of Chapman Medical Center, at about 8:40 p.m.

Authorities said a gray sedan traveling west on Chapman was rear ended by a black sedan. The gray car was then pushed through the intersection and caught fire. Fire officials said the car was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

A driver inside that car was declared dead at the scene. The female driver of the black sedan remained at the scene and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Hospital personnel rushed out of the hospital in an attempt to help those involved in the car crash. Good Samaritans helped pull a female out of the burning car, according to witnesses.

Authorities said a third car stopped at the light was side-swiped during the crash. That driver was also taken to the hospital, but with only minor injuries.

Chapman Avenue between the 55 Freeway and Malena Driver were closed until 3 a.m. during the investigation.

Officials stated they were investigating whether the vehicles were street racing before the crash.
