Outdoor fire scorches vehicles in Van Nuys

VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A fire outside a commercial building in Van Nuys damaged cars and cardboard boxes Saturday afternoon, according to officials from the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The large plumes of smoke were seen from the 405 Freeway, coming from outside a business named Christopher's Hoop Nuts in the 7600 block of N. Gloria Avenue.

Firefighters were able to knock down the fire shortly before 4 p.m., according to Margaret Stewart of the LAFD.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
