Pedestrian struck, killed by Metrolink train in Santa Clarita

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KABC) -- A Metrolink train struck and killed a pedestrian on the tracks in Santa Clarita on Tuesday.

AV Line Train 285 hit the person on the tracks at about 6:30 p.m. at Soledad Canyon and Golden Oak roads, Metrolink and Los Angeles County fire officials said.

Witnesses told Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies that a person was trying to beat the train. Deputies are investigating the incident as an accident.

The tracks were reopen shortly after 9 p.m.
