MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Manhattan Beach police determined no crime was committed after interviewing two men who were suspected of attempting to kidnap an 11-year-old girl from Grand View Elementary School Tuesday afternoon.

At 3:02 p.m., officers responded to the area of 27th Street and Vista Drive on a call of an attempted kidnapping.

An 11-year-old girl reported that she was walking home from the school, located in the 2700 block of Vista Drive, when a black compact car pulled up behind her.

The driver of the car told the young girl to get in the car. She said she feared for her safety and ran back toward the school, authorities said. The car left the area heading west on 29th Street and then north on Vista Drive.

Detectives identified the driver and passenger suspected to be involved in the incident and interviewed the two men. After evidence was obtained, including surveillance video, it was determined the men had not committed a crime, authorities said.

Authorities want to encourage parents to talk to their children about "Stranger Danger" and awareness, as well as reporting any instances of strange behavior.
