HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- At least one person was arrested during a demonstration Friday evening against recent police killings of unnamed black men.

The protest began in the late afternoon in downtown Los Angeles, hitting spots such as Union Station and 7th and Figueroa streets before moving on to Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue.

The situation intensified at about 9 p.m. when about 50 protesters spilled into the streets and blocked the southbound lanes of La Brea Boulevard near Sunset Boulevard, causing Los Angeles police officers to shut down streets in the area.

LAPD could be seen ushering protesters onto the sidewalks. One protester was arrested for battery on a police officer and a second was arrested on a misdemeanor for an outstanding warrant. Streets were reopened by 9:20 p.m.
