Power restored after vault failure in Sherman Oaks

A manhole cover blew due to equipment failure in Sherman Oaks Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015.

Nearly 1,000 people were without power Sunday morning in Sherman Oaks following an underground equipment failure.

The electrical vault issue happened at Woodman Avenue and Addison Street shortly after 3 a.m.

Los Angeles Department of Water and Power officials said some customers had their power restored at 6:30 a.m. They said the remaining customers had their power restored between 11:30 a.m. and noon.

The incident remained under investigation.
